Former Arsenal boss Joe Montemurro has been named as the new head coach of Juventus according to reports on the Italian club’s official website.

The 51-year-old Australian coach left The Gunners on 31 May following a three-and-a-half-year stay at Meadow Park and he has quickly found a new role in the game.

After a period of speculation, it has today been confirmed that Montemurro has agreed to become the new head coach of Juventus. Montemurro will officially take over at his new club on 1 July 2021.

Montemurro takes charge of a Juventus side which have won the Serie A Femminile title in each of the last four years. He will be challenged with pushing the club onto the next level, particularly in the UEFA Women’s Champions League where Juventus are yet to break into the latter stages. The Black and Whites have failed to advance from the round of 32 stage in each of the last three seasons.

During his time at Arsenal, Montemurro guided the club to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League title in 2018/2019 while The Gunners were FA Women’s Continental League Cup winners one year prior. Arsenal also reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League with the Australian in charge.

Arsenal finished in third place in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League this season in what turned out to be head coach Montemurro’s last campaign at the helm.
