Bristol City defender Gemma Evans will leave the club this summer upon the expiry of her contract according to reports on The Robins’ official website.

The 24-year-old Welsh international centre-back has spent the last three years with Bristol City but she will now move on for a fresh challenge following the club’s relegation to the FA Women’s Championship.

Evans featured for Bristol City on 20 occasions in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League this season as the club lost their brave battle against relegation. She was also fielded by the club in their first-ever appearance in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup final.

The defender started her senior career with Cardiff City Ladies in 2015 before moving to Yeovil Town two years later where she got her first taste of English top flight football. Evans joined current club Bristol City in summer 2018 and she has gone on to make more than a half-century of Barclays FA Women’s Super League appearances for the club.

Evans has been one of the more impressive performers for Bristol City this season and it will be intriguing to see whether the player will be turning out for another side in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League next term.
