Danish international forward Stine Larsen will leave Aston Villa at the end of her contract later this month according to reports on the club’s official website.
The 25-year-old joined The Villains last summer following the club’s promotion to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and the player helped the club record a 10th-place finish in their first year in the top flight.
With the season now over, Larsen’s one-year deal is set to expire and the club have today confirmed that the forward will not be staying on at The Banks’s Stadium in 2021/2022. Larsen made 17 appearances for Aston Villa in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League this season, scoring her only goal in the 3-1 defeat at Reading in September.
The Dane started her senior career in her homeland with Brondby IF before moving to France where she represented top flight side FC Fleury 91. Larsen is expected to move to a new club quickly after her departure from The Banks’s Stadium. The forward has been heavily linked with a move to Italian Serie A club AC Milan, although they are yet to confirm a potential deal.
Larsen’s final appearance in an Aston Villa shirt came on the final day of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League season as they held Arsenal to a goalless draw at Meadow Park.
