Leicester City have confirmed that nine players will leave the club when their contracts expire at midnight.
The Foxes will be playing their football in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League next season after winning the 2020/2021 FA Women’s Championship title and manager Jonathan Morgan has therefore had some difficult decisions to make as he prepares his squad for their new challenge.
Leicester City have confirmed that midfielders Remi Allen and Charlotte Fleming have come to mutual agreements to move on. Allen appeared in 18 of the club’s 20 league fixtures this season and is arguably the biggest name on The Foxes’ list of departures.
The club have also confirmed that Grace Riglar, Lia Cataldo, Freya Thomas, Aimee Everett, Millie Farrow, Olivia Fergusson and Libby Smith have been released with Leicester City set to bolster their ranks with fresh faces in the coming weeks.
A number of players have been linked with moves to Leicester City ahead of their debut season in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. Some of those players will see their existing contracts with their respective clubs end at midnight therefore announcements of summer signings may not be all that far away. Manchester United’s Jess Sigsworth and Abbie McManus and Bristol City’s Jemma Purfield are amongst those players linked with moves to the East Midlands.
