Liverpool have completed the signing of former Bristol City midfielder Carla Humphrey according to reports on The Reds’ official website.

The 24-year-old Brampton-born midfielder left her former club at the end of her contract earlier this week and Humphrey has today been reunited with former boss Matt Beard at Liverpool.

The pair worked together at Bristol City last season with Humphrey making 21 appearances for The Robins in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. Humphrey and Beard were unable to guide Bristol City away from relegation trouble as the club slipped back into the FA Women’s Championship.

After completing the move to Liverpool, Humphrey said “I’m so, so excited to be here. I’m really happy, it’s such a big club and I’m just really proud to come and represent Liverpool and the challenge that awaits in trying to get promotion. I’m just really excited to be here.

“Training’s been great and the girls have really helped me settle in. I knew a couple of them before and have played with some at other clubs, so I’m just excited to play with them.”

Humphrey becomes new Liverpool boss Beard’s fifth summer signing. Four of Beard’s five additions played for him at former clubs West Ham United and Bristol City last season, those players being Leanne Kiernan, Yana Daniels, Jas Matthews and latest signing Humphrey.
