Bristol City have completed the signing of former Welsh youth international midfielder Chloe O’Connor from Cardiff Metropolitan Ladies according to reports on The Robins’ official website.

The 26-year-old becomes new Bristol City interim head coach Lauren Smith’s first signing of the summer.

O’Connor has spent all of her career to date playing her football in Wales. She has enjoyed two spells with Cardiff Met along with spending time with Swansea City and Cardiff City. The player has experienced playing in the early rounds of the UEFA Women’s Champions League with both The Swans and The Met. She was the Welsh Premier Women’s League’s top scorer last season with 15 goals.

The midfielder represented Wales at Under-17 level but the former Welsh Premier Women’s League title winner is yet to collect her first senior cap.

After completing her move to Bristol City, O’Connor said “Bristol City Women is a club steeped in history in the women’s game and I’m excited for the next challenge in my career.

“The Robins High Performance Centre will be a fantastic venue to play at week-in, week-out and after speaking at length with Lauren (Smith) I’m looking forward to seeing how I develop my game under her this season.

“The Championship is a competitive league with some quality teams and players, which I’m excited to test myself against.”

O’Connor will now link-up with her new teammates for pre-season training as Bristol City prepare for life in the FA Women’s Championship.
