Bristol City have confirmed that Sophie Baggaley, Faye Bryson, Megan Wynne and Meaghan Sargeant have left the club.

The departures of the quartet now means that 15 senior players have left Bristol City since the club were relegated to the FA Women’s Championship in May.

Goalkeeper Baggaley has made 72 appearances for Bristol City in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League over the course of the last four years since moving to the South West following a spell with Birmingham City. She featured in all-but-one league fixture for the club in 2020/2021.

Defender Bryson has been with Bristol City for the last two seasons after joining The Robins from Everton. She made 15 league appearances for the club last season, scoring one goal. Bryson has today completed a move to Reading.

Midfielder Wynne and defender Sargeant have both been sidelined with long term injuries. Wynne didn’t appear for Bristol City in 2020/2021 while Sargeant made her comeback in the final weeks of the campaign but was unable to help steer the club to top flight safety. Sargeant’s Bristol City departure had already been confirmed with the player having joined Aston Villa last week.

New Bristol City interim head coach Lauren Smith has started her work rebuilding the squad, bringing two new faces to the club yesterday in Chloe O’Connor and Ava Kuyken.
