Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of forward Danielle Carter from Reading for an undisclosed fee.

The 28-year-old announced her departure from the Berkshire club earlier this afternoon and it has now been revealed that she has joined Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Seagulls announced the news via an official club press release which was issued to FAWSL Full-Time. Carter is reported to have signed a two-year deal with Hope Powell’s side and she becomes the club’s first signing of the summer.

After completing the signing of Carter, Albion boss Powell said “Danielle is a player I have known and admired for a long time, and I’m really pleased she is joining us for the next stage of our journey in the WSL. This is the first time we have paid a transfer fee for a player which reflects the club’s ambition and our desire to bring in quality additions to the squad.

“She’s got bags of experience at the highest level, and I know she will relish the challenge of helping us improve on the progress we made last season.

“Adding to our options in attack was something we were keen to do in this transfer window and Danielle will definitely help us with that. I’m looking forward to working with her and wish her all the best with us.”

Carter spent 11 years with Arsenal in which she made over a century of top flight appearances. She won four league titles with The Gunners along with four Women’s FA Cups and five FA Women’s Continental League Cups.

The player joined latest club Reading last summer and she scored three goals in 21 Barclays FA Women’s Super League appearances.
