Birmingham City full-back Rebecca Holloway has signed a new two-year contract with the club according to reports on the Blues’ official website.

The 25-year-old Northern Irish international defender was one of 13 players to be offered a new contract at the end of the season and she has opted to join Harriet Scott and Lily Simkin in remaining with the club for the next two years.

Holloway’s decision to sign a new deal provides Birmingham City with another boost ahead of the new campaign. The defender featured in every Barclays FA Women’s Super League game for the Blues last season, starting all-but-one.

After signing on again at St Andrew’s, Holloway said “I’m pleased to have committed to a new deal with Blues. They gave me an opportunity to play in the top flight and achieve my dream of playing professional football and I’m ready to continue that journey with the Club.

“Playing here has opened up the chance for me to represent my country and potentially take me to my first major tournament next summer.

“Working with Scott [Booth] is going to be a new and exciting challenge for all the players. Now it’s time to show him what I am capable of and ensure I am fully prepared for the upcoming season. I have so much more to offer that I feel nobody has seen yet and I’m excited to potentially show that this season. I can’t wait to see the fans again.”

It is thought that Birmingham City are now waiting to hear back from just six members of last season’s squad on whether they will remain with the club this season.
