Sheffield United have confirmed that young goalkeeper Emily Batty has joined FA Women’s National League North club Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal.

The 22-year-old stopper played a role as understudy to first choice goalkeeper Fran Kitching last season in what was a frustrating campaign for the youngster.

When Batty has been called upon by The Blades, she has never let them down. The keeper made six appearances for Sheffield United in her two years with the club, keeping three clean sheets in the process, an impressive record for any goalkeeper.

Batty now joins a Nottingham Forest side who were occupying a mid-table position in last season’s curtailed FA Women’s National League North. The player made her first appearance for The Tricky Trees yesterday as they lost 1-0 to FA Women’s National League South club Crawley Wasps in a pre-season friendly fixture in Eastwood.

Batty will be hoping to impress the management team at Nottingham Forest during the remainder of the club’s pre-season programme in a bid to claim the number one jersey for their 2021/2022 FA Women’s National League North opener against Huddersfield Town in Eastwood on Sunday 15 August. After winning just four of their nine league games last season, the club will be aiming for a better win ratio this season.
