Highly-rated left-back Leanne Cowan has completed a move to Crystal Palace.
The 25-year-old joins The Eagles on a free transfer after recently being released by Palace’s FA Women’s Championship rivals London City Lionesses.
Cowan has proved to be one of the most talented full-backs in the second tier, however, some bad luck with injuries over the last couple of years has held back her progression. The player is now back to full fitness and eager to prove herself in the division again.
Palace announced the signing of Cowan via a post on their official club Twitter account this morning.

The defender made 17 appearances in the FA Women’s Championship for former club London City Lionesses over the last two seasons. She was a member of the Millwall Lionesses squad which transferred over to the London City Lionesses club in summer 2019.
Palace manager Dean Davenport’s summer recruitment drive has significantly picked up pace in recent days. The Eagles have brought back midfielder Kirsty Barton following a successful loan spell with the club last season while 2020/2021 FA Women’s Championship winners Millie Farrow and Aimee Everett arrived at Hayes Lane yesterday on free transfers.
Last season saw Palace finish in seventh place in the FA Women’s Championship table. With a better defensive record, the season could have been so much better for the club. The latest addition of Cowan adds some real quality to the back-line.
