Durham have announced the signing of Albanian forward Elizabeta Ejupi on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old striker was without a club after leaving former side London City Lionesses at the end of last season.

Ejupi spent two years with The Pride in which she scored seven goals in 23 FA Women’s Championship appearances.

Durham announced the signing of Ejupi via an official club press release this afternoon.

After completing her move to the North East, Ejupi said “It feels good to be here. I’ve always had tough games against Durham and it’s a team that I’ve spoken to for a few years. It feels good to finally be here.

“I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t believe in the team. Durham have proved themselves for the last few seasons and I only want to build on that and be part of it.

“I think it’s going to be a really tough year for everyone, but the competition is exciting.”

Ejupi is the perfect replacement for outgoing striker Molly Sharpe who left the club at the end of last season. The player brings plenty of experience with her to Maiden Castle following spells with Notts County, Aston Villa, Charlton Athletic and latest club London City Lionesses.
