Former London City Lionesses captain Ellie Mason has completed a move to Lewes according to reports on The Rookettes’ official website.

The 25-year-old, who can operate either in defence or in midfield, moves to The Dripping Pan on a free transfer after leaving London City Lionesses at the end of last season.

Mason spent two years with The Pride in which she made 17 appearances for the club in the FA Women’s Championship and scored four goals. The player’s progress was hindered by injury last season but she will now be hoping to hit the ground running with new club Lewes.

After completing her move to The Dripping Pan, Mason said “I’m very excited to be joining Lewes, it’s a great environment and I’m excited to get going with the girls. The club had a very good season last year and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

Mason is the sixth arrival at The Dripping Pan in what has been a very busy summer for Lewes boss Simon Parker. The club have also added Ellie Hack, Rebecca McKenna, Lara Miller, Freda Ayisi and Heidi Logan to their squad ahead of the new season.

Lewes are bidding to better their best-ever finish of fifth place in the FA Women’s Championship table this season.
