Watford FC have shown their support to their women’s team by moving three FA Women’s Championship games to Vicarage Road.

The club have today confirmed that their opening three fixtures in the FA Women’s Championship will take place at Watford’s traditional home, allowing Clinton Lancaster’s side the fantastic opportunity of playing their matches in a Premier League stadium.

Watford’s first home fixture is against one of the promotion favourites, Liverpool. The game marks Watford’s return to second tier football following a three-year absence. That game will now take place at Vicarage Road on Saturday 4 September and will kick-off at 2pm.

The Golden Girls will also take to the field at WD18 for the fixtures against Charlton Athletic on Saturday 2 October and Crystal Palace on Sunday 31 October.

Watford were awarded a place in the FA Women’s Championship in early June following a successful application for upward movement. The club were awarded one of the two vacant places based largely on their impressive league results recorded in the FA Women’s National League South over the last two seasons. The number of participating clubs in the FA Women’s Championship was increased from 11 to 12 over the summer while the second vacant place was left by London Bees’ relegation at the end of last season.

The Golden Girls begin the new season at Durham on Sunday 29 August.
