Highly-rated Manchester United defender Tara Bourne has joined FA Women’s Championship club Sheffield United on a season-long loan deal.
The 18-year-old has signed her first professional terms with her parent club before being loaned to The Blades.
Sheffield United announced the loan arrangement via an official club press release issued this morning.
Bourne starred for Manchester United’s WSL Academy side before being handed her senior debut in the 6-0 Vitality Women’s FA Cup fourth round victory at Burnley last season. She was also named on the bench for United for a number of Barclays FA Women’s Super League matches last term.
After completing her loan move to Sheffield United, Bourne said “I’m really happy and really excited. The league is going to be really competitive this season so I’m excited to get involved now with the team and see how far we can take it.
“It’s such an important phase of my development. I can’t wait to push on, getting game time is the most important thing and to get it at a club like Sheffield United, I’m just excited to push on, improve as a player and help push the team to where we want to be.”
Bourne could make her Sheffield United debut against Blackburn Rovers at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium on Sunday.
