PREVIEW: Brighton & Hove Albion v Manchester United

Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester United complete their respective pre-season programmes this afternoon when the pair meet at Loughborough University to contest their final pre-season friendly.

United kick-off the new Barclays FA Women’s Super League season against Reading at The Leigh Sports Village on Friday evening while Albion’s first game is against West Ham United at The Amex Stadium next Sunday.

Albion have been preparing for the new season behind-closed-doors with the results of their warm-up matches having not been publicised. Manager Hope Powell has added three players to her squad over the summer, those being Danielle Carter, Rinsola Babajide and Lee Guem-min. The trio could all feature against United in Loughborough this afternoon.

Marc Skinner’s United side have enjoyed an unbeaten pre-season campaign to date. The Red Devils drew 2-2 with Liverpool in their opening friendly fixture before later going on to record victories over Aston Villa (2-0) and Rangers (5-0). A number of players have impressed so far including midfielder Katie Zelem and attackers Leah Galton and Kirsty Hanson.

The pre-season friendly match between Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester United at the Loughborough University campus kicks-off at midday. The game is being played behind-closed-doors and is not thought to be being broadcast live.
