Manchester City return to European action on Wednesday evening when Real Madrid are the visitors to The Academy Stadium for the second leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League Round 2 tie.

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Madrid a week ago with Caroline Weir’s strike being cancelled out by a Kenti Robles effort at the death.

Manchester City remain without a number of players for the match. Ellie Roebuck and Keira Walsh will not be seen until after the international break while Lucy Bronze is continuing her rehabilitation. Forward Chloe Kelly is still a long way off making a return. Georgia Stanway and Ellen White are expected to be fit following knocks with the pair having featured at Everton on Saturday.

Real Madrid come into the tie off the back of a 4-0 opening day defeat to Levante in the Primera División at the weekend. Former Manchester City forward Kosovare Asllani missed that match due to her recovery from COVID-19, however, she has now returned to training with the squad and will travel to England. Head coach David Aznar is not thought to have any new injury concerns to contend with.

Manchester City’s UEFA Women’s Champions League Round 2 second leg tie against Real Madrid kicks-off at 7pm on Wednesday evening. Tickets for the match remain on sale and can be purchased by clicking here. The game is also being shown live on City+.
