Chelsea and Everton will be looking to put their respective opening day Barclays FA Women’s Super League defeats behind them when they meet at Kingsmeadow on Sunday.

Emma Hayes’ side were defeated 3-2 at Arsenal while Everton lost 4-0 to Manchester City at Goodison Park.

Chelsea go into the match without the services of Norwegian international defender Maren Mjelde who continues to rebuild her fitness following knee surgery while manager Emma Hayes is carefully integrating summer signings Aniek Nouwen and Lauren James into the side. Fran Kirby and Sam Kerr both started on the bench at Arsenal and Hayes could opt to bring them back in from the start against Everton.

Everton manager Willie Kirk remains without injured duo Leonie Maier and Simone Magill, although both players could come back into contention after the international break. Forward Valerie Gauvin is regaining a good level of fitness following an injury-disrupted pre-season and she will again be available when required against Chelsea. Kirk has hinted that he could opt to make a couple of changes to his starting XI this weekend.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Chelsea and Everton kicks-off at 12.30pm on Sunday afternoon and will be broadcast live on BBC Two. Tickets remain on general sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
