Crystal Palace will be looking to bounce back to winning ways this weekend but they face an in-form Sunderland side at Selhurst Park.

Dean Davenport’s Palace side suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat at London City Lionesses last time out leaving them with three points from a possible six to start the season. An early strike from Lizzie Waldie looked to have set them on their way but the turnaround was completed before half-time. As for Sunderland, they have made a
perfect start to the season with two wins from two and no goals conceded thus far.

It will be the first time in five years that Palace’s women’s side have played at Selhurst Park therefore it is a momentous occasion for the club and one they’ll be hoping is a day to remember. After a seventh-place finish in 2020/2021, there is belief that the team can go further this season, especially with a revamped squad. Nine new signings have been made over the summer including ex-Durham forward Molly Sharpe and Leicester City promotion winners Aimee Everett and Millie Farrow.

As for the visitors, they go into the game top of the table and looking to add to their already impressive start. The Ladies Black Cats were dealt an early blow this season when club captain Keira Ramshaw suffered a knee injury
that required stitches in the first game against Coventry United, however, she may return to action when the Wearsiders take on Palace. Sunderland have looked very solid and compact in defence so far whilst boasting enough attacking quality to take their chances at the other end.
