Brighton & Hove Albion forward Kayleigh Green scored twice for Wales as they defeated Kazakhstan 6-0 in Llanelli last night in their opening FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia New Zealand 2023 qualifying match.

Wales are yet to qualify for a FIFA Women’s World Cup, however, they made the perfect start to qualifying for the 2023 edition by defeating a poor Kazakhstani outfit at the Parc y Scarlets last night.

The Red Dragons were in dreamland after just half an hour as they established a two-goal lead. Green opened the scoring with her first goal of the match before Reading’s Natasha Harding added her name to the scoresheet with an equally as impressive strike.

Rachel Rowe’s long range thunderbolt made in 3-0 early in the second half before Green completed her brace.

Wales were completely dominant throughout and Gemma Grainger’s side added further goals deep in second half stoppage time through headers from midfielder Ceri Holland and defender Gemma Evans.

Wales continue their FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia New Zealand 2023 qualifying campaign against Estonia in Pärnu on Tuesday evening. Two victories out of two would give Grainger’s side a real boost ahead of more difficult assignments against Slovenia and group favourites France later in their qualifying campaign.
