Brighton & Hove Albion and Charlton Athletic will be hoping to move to within a game of a Wembley appearance when the pair contest their delayed Vitality Women’s FA Cup quarter-final tie at The People’s Pension Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Hope Powell’s Brighton & Hove Albion side have started the new Barclays FA Women’s Super League season strongly but they come up against a Charlton Athletic side who are aiming to reach the top flight themselves in future years after turning full-time over the summer.

The hosts go into the tie having beaten Bristol City and Huddersfield Town in the fourth and fifth rounds of the competition in May. Powell’s side were top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table after two games but they surrendered pole position on Sunday as they went down 1-0 at home to Aston Villa.

Charlton Athletic go into the tie flying the flag for the FA Women’s Championship. The Addicks are the only second tier side remaining in the competition after narrowly seeing off Oxford United and Blackburn Rovers in the previous rounds. The Addicks boss Karen Hills is again set to be without forward Lauren Bruton while Beth Roe is thought to be ineligible to face her former club.

The Vitality Women’s FA Cup quarter-final tie between Brighton & Hove Albion and Charlton Athletic kicks-off at 7pm on Wednesday evening.
