Chelsea manager Emma Hayes says that Leicester City are showing some signs of improvement ahead of their meeting at Kingsmeadow on Sunday.

The Foxes have lost all four league games since being promoted to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League while they went down 6-0 to Manchester City in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.

Speaking ahead of the match, Hayes said that despite Leicester City’s tough start, there are some signs that there is light at the end of the tunnel for the club.

“I actually think they’ve got better in the last couple of games,” Hayes said. “I think that they have been more difficult to break down and more organised off the ball.

“They kept Man City at nil-nil for at least 45 minutes and it took Tottenham a long time to get the winner so I think they are improving, they are learning what they need to do to survive.”

Chelsea were involved in a thrilling 3-3 draw against VfL Wolfsburg in their first UEFA Women’s Champions League group game at Kingsmeadow in midweek. While that game was a real mental and physical challenge for The Blues, Hayes said that her side will be fresh and ready for Sunday.

She added “We love it. We’ve got a game every three or four days, what’s not to love about that?

“I’m sure we will be fine, everyone will be in, we will play some head tennis and we will train, have a day off and we will be ready to go on Sunday.”

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Chelsea and Leicester City kicks-off at 12.30pm on Sunday afternoon. The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Premier League while fans can attend the game by purchasing their tickets here.
