Blackburn Rovers pair Emma Doyle and Millie Robertson have been ruled out of action for the remainder of the season according to reports on the club’s official website.

Both players are important members of manager Gemma Donnelly’s first team squad and today’s news is undoubtedly a blow for the club.

It has been revealed that midfielder Doyle has sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. The player was forced off in the early stages of Rovers’ 2-1 defeat to London City Lionesses at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium earlier this month. The player had started all of Rovers’ first five games in the FA Women’s Championship games this season but a scan has revealed that she has torn her ACL and she will play no further part in the current campaign.

Teenage defender Robertson came off the bench to feature for Rovers in their 2-0 home win over Sheffield United on opening day but it has since been determined that the player requires further treatment off the back of an historical ACL injury. As a result, Robertson is set to be out of action for the remainder of the season.

Rovers have collected six points from their first six FA Women’s Championship games this season. The club face a huge fixture against Coventry United after the international break.
