Former Reading goalkeeper Erin Nayler has agreed to join Swedish club Umeå IK FF for the 2022 Damallsvenskan season according to reports on UIK’s official website.

The 29-year-old New Zealand international keeper spent last season with Reading before leaving the club in the summer. Nayler made one appearance for The Royals in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup while she provided cover for first choice goalkeeper Grace Moloney, a player who enjoyed a fine campaign in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

It has today been confirmed that Nayler has agreed a move to Umeå IK FF. The club have won the Elitettan, Sweden’s second division and will return to the top level in 2022.

After completing her move to the Umeå Energi Arena, Nayler said “I am very happy to join Umeå IK FF and have heard fantastic things about the coach Samuel (Fagerholm), about the girls in the team, about the club and where the club wants to reach. I feel honoured to be a part of it.

“I’m really looking forward to taking my routine and my skills out on the field and working with the team to succeed in the Damallsvenskan next season.”

Nayler has been capped by her country on 74 occasions at senior level while she can count former European champions Lyon amongst her former clubs. After a frustrating spell with Reading, the keeper will be hoping for regular game time with new club Umeå IK FF.
