Sunderland have completed the signing of teenage full-back Daisy Burt according to reports on The Lady Black Cats’ official website.

The 16-year-old links-up with Sunderland’s senior team following a successful spell representing the club through their Regional Talent Centre (RTC).

Burt is an England youth international and she has recently been representing The Young Lionesses at Under-17 level in their qualifying campaign for the UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship. The defender is yet to make an appearance in senior football but will be hoping to get some game time with Sunderland.

After signing on at the Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground, Burt said “I’m very happy to join the senior squad and I believe the RTC is a great place to help push you on as a player.

“I feel I’m definitely ready for women’s football, and that I’ve progressed from the RTC well enough to show what I can do.

“I believe I can bring a defensive aggression to the side, and also a creative side in that I can get forward, get the ball down and play over the top.”

Burt will go straight into the Sunderland squad for their FA Women’s Continental League Cup fixture against Aston Villa in the North East on Sunday.
