Chelsea captain Magda Eriksson says that Sunday’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup final against Arsenal will be a battle between two sides in exceptional form.

The two sides currently occupy the top two positions in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table while they played out a thrilling match on the opening day of the season with Arsenal coming out 3-2 victors.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Eriksson said that Sunday’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup final is too close to call with the game seeing two in-form sides going head-to-head.

“It’s going to be a difficult task, we are well aware of that,” Eriksson said. “They’re in great form, since that game (the league fixture) we have been in great form as well so I think it is two teams that are really at their top form.

“It’s going to be anyone’s to grab really, it’s going to be 50-50. It is about us being ready for that game, for that day and we must show that we have learnt from that previous encounter.”

Eriksson has already been a member of a Chelsea side which have defeated Arsenal in a Vitality Women’s FA Cup final. She played the full 90 minutes of the 2018 final at Wembley, a tie which Chelsea won 3-1. The defender said that she has special memories of that day.

She said “It was my first really big game in England and it is still to this day one of the best days in my football career. I think it had everything – the fans, the win, the way that we played, the way we celebrated after.

“It was the perfect experience and I have lots of good memories of playing at Wembley in that final. It was an amazing experience and hopefully, it can be similar on Sunday.”

The 2020/2021 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final takes place at Wembley Stadium at 2pm on Sunday afternoon. Tickets remain on sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
