Chelsea have completed the domestic treble with a routine 3-0 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final victory over Arsenal at Wembley this afternoon.

Fran Kirby opened the scoring while Sam Kerr helped herself to a brace as The Blues eased to victory over a poor Arsenal side.

The deadlock was broken in just the third minute when some clumsy Arsenal defending resulted in the ball deflecting into the path of Kirby who beat Gunners keeper Manuela Zinsberger when one-on-one.

Having gone a goal down early on, Arsenal struggled to settle and Zinsberger had to deny Kerr from point blank range before Kirby saw an effort superbly pushed onto the post by the Austrian international.

Zinsberger then pushed a Kirby shot round the post at the end of a flowing Chelsea attack before Magda Eriksson headed wide from a corner with the goal at her mercy.

Kerr had the final effort of the first half for the dominant Blues but her lob over Zinsberger came back off the crossbar before the ball was cleared to safety.

Arsenal couldn’t be any worse in the second half, they weren’t, but they weren’t much better neither. Kerr headed an Erin Cuthbert cross into the palms of Zinsberger but she soon got her goal when she wrong-footed the Austrian when jinking her way into the box.

Kirby then curled a sublime effort against the far post before substitute Pernille Harder powered her way into the six-yard box before shooting straight at Zinsberger.

Chelsea were to soon get their third goal and it came from the boot of Kerr, the Australian international cheekily lobbing Zinsberger before darting away in celebration.

Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall joked before the match about being superstitious of black cats but he will surely now be having nightmares about the black sausage dogs of competition sponsors Vitality as rivals Chelsea completed their treble.
