Chelsea will be hoping to secure their place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League’s group stage when they take on Juventus at Kingsmeadow on Wednesday.

The Blues have 10 points from their four games so far and are three points clear of Juventus and five ahead of VfL Wolfsburg. Victory over the Italians this week will see Chelsea win the group with a game to spare.

Ahead of Chelsea’s latest group match, FAWSL Full-Time have been looking at the UEFA statistics surrounding the fixture. Here are four facts which relate to Chelsea’s group game against Juventus.

Juventus have a good record away from home

Juventus are one of four clubs to have won both away games in the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage, FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are the other sides to have achieved the feat. The Italians won 3-0 at Servette FCCF and 2-0 in Germany against VfL Wolfsburg. They also defeated Albanian club Vllaznia 2-0 away from home in the second round.

Sam Kerr has made an impact at Kingsmeadow

Sam Kerr has opened the scoring in each of Chelsea’s first two home group games against VfL Wolfsburg and Servette FCCF. Kerr has four goals in four UEFA Women’s Champions League games in total this season. Given the player’s double over Arsenal in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup final at the weekend, you would not bet against Kerr making it three opening goals in as many games in UEFA Women’s Champions League ties at Kingsmeadow on Wednesday night.

Chelsea are on a long unbeaten run at home in Europe

Chelsea have won seven and drawn two of their last nine UEFA Women’s Champions League matches at Kingsmeadow, scoring 23 goals in the process. The Blues have also only failed to score in one of their last 21 UEFA Women’s Champions League matches. Emma Hayes’ side always have lots goals in them and they are incredibly difficult opponents on their own soil in Europe.

Both clubs could celebrate qualification at Kingsmeadow

Chelsea will qualify for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League if they win or if VfL Wolfsburg fail to beat Servette FCCF. Meanwhile, if VfL Wolfsburg are defeated by Servette FCCF and Juventus pick up at least a point against Chelsea, both sides will qualify. Chelsea and Juventus will also advance if the Italians win and VfL Wolfsburg don’t.

The UEFA Women’s Champions League group fixture between Chelsea and Juventus at Kingsmeadow kicks-off at 8pm on Wednesday evening. Tickets are now on general sale and can be purchased by clicking here. Fans who are unable to attend the match can stream the action live on DAZN.
