Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall says that he is expecting his side to face a well-drilled Brighton & Hove Albion team at Meadow Park on Sunday.

The Gunners come up against an Albion side who are in fourth position in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table, two places higher than the one that they finished in last season.

Albion have the fourth-best defensive record in the league so far this season and Arsenal boss Eidevall is expecting The Seagulls to make it tough for his side this weekend.

“They are a very organised team that work very hard,” Eidevall said when speaking to FAWSL Full-Time in the pre-match press conference. Their defensive work is done very well, they defend their goal well and don’t make many mistakes in the sense that they don’t give the ball away in dangerous areas so you have to try to break them down with your own offensive play.”

With COVID-19 cases rising in huge numbers as a result of the Omicron variant, it is impossible to determine what the situation might be regarding fulfilling fixtures and fans being permitted to attend matches in early 2022. Eidevall went on to say that safety is the primary factor.

He said “It is important to keep everyone safe at Arsenal, that it what we can control and we must make sure that follow our rules and procedures to help us do that.

“It is obviously a concerning situation around us and for those who get infected.”

Arsenal’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion kicks-off at 6.45pm on Sunday evening. Tickets for the match are available by clicking here.
