Durham and Blackburn Rovers will be keen to collect another three points for very different reasons when the pair meet at Maiden Castle this afternoon.

The Wildcats have fallen behind in the FA Women’s Championship promotion race while Blackburn Rovers are looking over their shoulders at struggling Coventry United and Watford with the pair creeping closer to the Lancashire club, bringing the relegation zone with them.

Durham go into the game with no new injury concerns following last weekend’s 6-0 Vitality Women’s FA Cup third round victory at Leeds United but forward Nicki Gears remains sidelined with a long term injury. Manager Lee Sanders is likely to keep faith with the majority of the side which performed so well in Tadcaster last weekend.

Blackburn Rovers continue to be without defender Millie Robertson and midfielder Emma Doyle who have been ruled out for the remainder of the season. Manager Gemma Donnelly is not thought to have any other injury concerns to contend with following Rovers’ excellent 1-0 victory over top tier side Aston Villa in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup on Wednesday.

The FA Women’s Championship fixture between Durham and Blackburn Rovers kicks-off at noon. Tickets for the match can be purchased by clicking here or are available on the turnstiles.
