Leicester City and Manchester City will contest their final FA Women’s Continental League Cup group match at The Pirelli Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The two sides were originally set to play the fixture last month but the game was postponed due to COVID-19 in the Manchester City camp.
Leicester City dropped back to the bottom of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table on Sunday and manager Lydia Bedford’s priority will be league survival. The Foxes boss could opt to make some subtle changes against Manchester City, although options remain limited with Kirstie Levell, Connie Scofield, Hannah Cain and Lachante Paul all still sidelined.
Manchester City need a win to qualify for the quarter-finals, something which they will believe can definitely be achieved. The Cityzens won 6-0 at Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday as their form continues to improve. Head coach Gareth Taylor remains without Ellie Roebuck, Karen Bardsley, Esme Morgan, Caroline Weir, Chloe Kelly and Khajida ‘Bunny’ Shaw while he could opt to name captain Steph Houghton amongst the substitutes given her recent return to fitness following long term injury. Hayley Raso and Alanna Kennedy are likely to be unavailable given the fact that Australia’s AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022™ pre-camp got underway yesterday.
The FA Women’s Continental League Cup group match between Leicester City and Manchester City kicks-off at 7pm on Wednesday evening with admission available on the night.
