Bristol City midfielder Aimee Palmer has signed a new contract with the club until summer 2023 according to reports on The Robins’ official website.

The 21-year-old came through Bristol City’s youth ranks before making her senior debut for the club in  2017. The player left for Manchester United in summer 2018 but she returned to Bristol City two years later and has gone on to become a key player in the team.

Palmer’s contract at The Robins’ High Performance Centre was due to come to an end this summer, however, the midfielder has today agreed a one-year extension with the option of a further year should Bristol City secure a return to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

Speaking to Robins TV after signing her new deal, Palmer said “On a personal level, I want to help the team as much as possible and be a leader both on and off the pitch.

“As a team, we want to keep building and keep picking up points where we can and really push Liverpool for that top position because there is still time and they can still slip up.

“There is real togetherness. I’ve never been in a team like this before, it is really enjoyable and that really helps us on the pitch. You just want to do well for each other and I have never had that before, it is a really nice feeling.”

Palmer will hope to lead Bristol City to another three points when they travel to Blackburn Rovers in the FA Women’s Championship on Sunday.
