Aston Villa midfielder Emily Syme has left the club by mutual consent according to reports on The Villans’ official website.

The 21-year-old joined Aston Villa in summer 2019 following former club Yeovil Town’s relegation from the top flight and the midfielder has served the Midlands club well in her time in claret and blue.

Syme leaves The Banks’s Stadium after making 39 appearances for Aston Villa in all competitions in which she scored four goals. The midfielder made 14 appearances for The Villans in the 2019/2020 season as the club secured promotion to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League on a points per game basis following the early curtailment of the campaign due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

After starting just one match in the top flight for Aston Villa, Syme joined Sheffield United on loan at the start of this season. She has made five appearances for the club in the FA Women’s Championship. The midfielder’s loan deal at The Technique Stadium has today come to an end.

Syme started her career with Bristol City where she came through the club’s youth ranks to go on and feature briefly for the first team. The midfielder then moved to Yeovil Town in a bid to get regular game time under her belt before joining Aston Villa after one season with the Somerset club.
