Blackburn Rovers have confirmed the double addition of defender Erica Cunningham and midfielder Luana Zajmi.

After a busy final few hours in the January transfer window, Blackburn Rovers confirmed the signing of experienced defender Cunningham before also announcing a loan agreement for Leicester City midfielder Zajmi.

Cunningham arrives at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium with a wealth of experience playing across the world. The defender started out in America with both Santa Rosa Junior College and USF Women’s Soccer before moving to Switzerland where she has represented FC Lugano and FC Zürich. The player has most recently been playing in the Swedish second tier with IFK Norrköping.

While Cunningham has joined Blackburn Rovers on a permanent basis, Leicester City midfielder Zajmi has moved to the Lancashire club on loan. The teenager joined Leicester City during the first half of the season but she has struggled for playing opportunities. Zajmi is yet to make her Barclays FA Women’s Super League debut while her only appearance for The Foxes to date came in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.

Cunningham is available for selection for this weekend’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie at Durham. Blackburn Rovers have not indicated whether Zajmi will be permitted to play for the club in the competition.
