FA Women’s Championship club Durham have completed the signing of Republic of Ireland international forward Saoirse Noonan following a spell with FAI Women’s National League club Shelbourne.
The Wildcats confirmed the news this evening via an official club press release. The deal was completed prior to the closure of the international transfer window and is subject to the player obtaining international clearance.
Noonan is one of the brightest young talents in the game in the Republic of Ireland. She has made two senior international appearances for her country and scored her first goal for the Republic of Ireland in their 11-0 FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 qualifying victory over Georgia in November.
At club level, Noonan helped Shelbourne to the FAI Women’s National League title, scoring 12 goals across the season. She has also previously turned out for Cork City.
After completing her move to Durham, Noonan said “It’s brilliant to be here. This is a really competitive club and they’ve been up there, so I’m buzzing to get going and ready to compete. I’d say I’m quite a technical player and dangerous in and around the box and I’m good in the air. I just can’t wait to get going now.”
Durham will hope that Noonan’s international clearance can be obtained in time for their next FA Women’s Championship match at London City Lionesses next weekend.
