FA Women’s Championship club Watford have completed the signings of defensive pair Shauna Vassell and Evie Gane.

The Golden Girls first announced the signing Vassell on a free transfer before revealing that fellow defender Gane has also joined the club on a dual-registration basis from Portsmouth.

Full-back Vassell moves to The Orbital Fasteners Stadium after most recently playing in Norway with Stabaek. The player made 17 appearances for Charlton Athletic in last season’s FA Women’s Championship, helping steer the club to safety.

Welsh defender Gane is vastly experienced at FA Women’s Championship level. She started out in the second tier with Oxford United before going on to feature for Aston Villa at that same level. Gane spent two seasons with London Bees in which she made 19 FA Women’s Championship appearances. The defender has briefly played top flight football with Reading in the early days of her career.

Watford have confirmed that both players are available for immediate selection. The Golden Girls do not have a game this weekend due to being dumped out of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup in the third round but they are set to resume their battle to remain in the FA Women’s Championship next weekend when they travel to Charlton Athletic.
