Manchester United defender Bourne loaned to Blackburn Rovers

Manchester United defender Tara Bourne has joined FA Women’s Championship club Blackburn Rovers on a loan deal until the end of the season according to reports on the Lancashire club’s official website.

The 18-year-old centre-back has spent the first half of the season on loan at Sheffield United. That arrangement has today come to an end and the youngster has now secured a move to The Sir Tom Finney Stadium.

Bourne has impressed at WSL Academy level for parent club Manchester United and she was handed her senior debut for The Red Devils by former boss Casey Stoney last season. Bourne has gone on to make a couple of first team appearances for Manchester United while she has been named amongst the substitutes on a number of occasions.

In her recent loan spell with Sheffield United, Bourne made 12 appearances for The Blades in all competitions. She played against new club Blackburn Rovers on the opening day of the season, the Lancashire club were 2-0 victors in that game.

Bourne is Blackburn Rovers boss Gemma Donnelly’s third signing of the January transfer window’s deadline day. The youngster follows fellow defender Erica Cunningham and midfielder Luana Zajmi to The Sir Tom Finney Stadium.
