Tottenham Hotspur defender Esther Morgan has joined the club’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League rivals Leicester City on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 19-year-old made the breakthrough into the Spurs senior squad last season and the player made eight Barclays FA Women’s Super League appearances in 2020/2021.

This campaign has been more frustrating for the youngster with Morgan having been an unused substitute on 12 occasions for Spurs in the league. Morgan’s only appearances have come in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.

With Morgan in need of regular first team football, Leicester City have this afternoon confirmed that the player has joined them on loan. The news was confirmed via The Foxes’ official club website.

After joining the East Midlands club, Morgan said “I’m really excited about this opportunity and I’m really excited to be here.

“I think I need to be playing and I think this is a good place for me to be given opportunities. I’m here to fight for my place in the team and hopefully make us a stronger side.”

Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City met in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup fourth round at the weekend. Morgan was not in the Spurs side for that game, a tie that Leicester City won 3-1 after extra-time.
