Chelsea will be hoping to continue their excellent recent record against Manchester City in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League when the pair resume their rivalry at Kingsmeadow on Sunday.

The Blues are unbeaten in their last nine Barclays FA Women’s Super League meetings with The Cityzens while Emma Hayes’ side are aiming to complete a first-ever league double over Manchester City.

Chelsea manager Hayes continues to be short on squad numbers going into this weekend’s clash. Captain Magda Eriksson and forward Beth England remain injured while midfielder Melanie Leupolz is recovering from long COVID. Maren Mjelde is no closer to a return while the club could make an assessment of Sam Kerr’s fitness ahead of the game.

Manchester City travel to Kingsmeadow without long term absentees Karen Bardsley, Karima Benameur Taieb, Esme Morgan and Chloe Kelly. Forward Ellen White is fit but captain Steph Houghton is a major doubt. New signing Julie Blakstad has received international clearance and could feature.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Chelsea and Manchester City is scheduled to kick-off at 12.30pm on Sunday afternoon. The game is being listed as a sell-out with no tickets thought to be available on the day.
