Arsenal defender Lotte Wubben-Moy will miss international duty with England at the Arnold Clark Cup this month due to the continuation of a troublesome injury.

The 23-year-old centre-back has missed Arsenal’s last two Barclays FA Women’s Super League matches against Manchester United and Chelsea through injury but she was selected in Sarina Wiegman’s 24-player England squad for the Arnold Clark Cup.

Wiegman has allowed Wubben-Moy as much time as possible to recover from her injury ahead of the Arnold Clark Cup but with the tournament set to start tomorrow, The Football Association have confirmed that the defender will not be reporting for England duty this time around.

The Football Association released a statement on the Lionesses’ official Twitter account this evening. Wubben-Moy will now continue her rehabilitation with her club. England boss Wiegman will not call a replacement into her squad with the Lionesses instead going into the tournament with a group of 23 players.

England begin their Arnold Clark Cup campaign with a fixture against Olympic Gold Medalists Canada at The Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough tomorrow night. The Lionesses will then face Spain at Norwich City’s Carrow Road on Sunday before rounding-off the tournament with a match against Germany at Molineux in Wolverhampton next Wednesday.
