Bristol City defender Naomi Layzell has signed her first professional terms with the club, with the deal initially running until summer 2023 according to reports on The Robins’ official website.

The 18-year-old made her senior debut for the club during their FA Women’s Continental League Cup run last season and she has gone on to become an important member of the first team squad.

Layzell has made 14 appearances for Bristol City in all competitions this season with 10 of those outings coming in the FA Women’s Championship as the club have gone from strength-to-strength.

With Layzell potentially set for a big future in the Bristol City side, the club have moved quickly to tie the player down on a professional deal. The youngster is delighted to have dedicated her future to The Robins.

“Bristol City is a club that has given me fantastic opportunities to develop over the last couple of seasons and that’s massively aided my growth and understanding of the game,” she said.

“I’m grateful to the club and Lauren (Smith) for giving me the opportunity to sign my first professional deal, which is something you dream of when starting your journey in football.

“We’ve got an exciting group of players at the club and we’ve already shown what we’re capable of in half a season together – I’m looking forward to seeing how we grow as team moving forward and where we can get to.”

Layzell will be hoping to get another chance to impress when Bristol City travel to Lewes on Sunday in the FA Women’s Championship.
