Reading manager Kelly Chambers has called on her side to be more ruthless in attack when they face Tottenham Hotspur at the Select Car Leasing Stadium this weekend.

The Royals have failed to score in their last two games and managed just a single shot on target against Arsenal in midweek.

When discussing where her side need to improve this weekend, Chambers said that being more ruthless in the opposition box is something that is certainly required.

“We have to give Spurs some respect for what they’ve done this season, they’ve been incredible and their league position shows that,” Chambers said when speaking to FAWSL Full-Time.

“For us, it is a case of recovering physically and mentally from the Arsenal game and we need to have some real good prep going into Tottenham.

“We need to be defensively strong but also, we need to give an attacking threat and I think we need to be more ruthless in-front of goal when we get our chances.”

After going unbeaten in eight Barclays FA Women’s Super League matches, Reading have gone two league games without collecting a point and Chambers wants her side to try to rebuild some momentum this weekend.

She said “The international break didn’t come at a good time, we played the Brighton game where we all know that the performance wasn’t at the level that we expect but we could’ve done with another game straight after that.

“It has given everyone a bit of time and a break but for us, we have to try and find that momentum again and build from that. We have got to look forward and bounce back quick.”

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Reading and Tottenham Hotspur kicks-off at 2pm on Sunday.
