Everton’s interim manager Chris Roberts says that the club are craving more success after their recent victories over Charlton Athletic and Aston Villa.

It has been a long, hard slog for The Blue Girls this season but there has been evidence in recent weeks that things are finally coming together.

Everton’s latest Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture is a home clash with Leicester City on Saturday evening. When speaking ahead of the match, interim boss Roberts said that Everton are enjoying the winning feeling and they are keen for more success.

“We know that it’s going to be very tough against Leicester, they’ve been very impressive since Lydia (Bedford) has come in,” Roberts said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “They are really well-organised, difficult to beat and really dangerous on the counter attack so we know it will be a tough game.

“We hope to build on the two wins that we have had, two clean sheets as well. That winning feeling is addictive and we want more of it, it drives you on in training every day. That’s the aim this weekend, to get our third win on the trot but we know it is going to be difficult.”

With eight games remaining, Everton are currently in 10th position in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table. Roberts went on to say that the aim is to climb the table as much as possible between now and the end of the season.

He said “Every game is very important to us, every point is very important to us. We feel like as a squad, we are not in a position in the league that we wanted to be in at this point in the year. Regardless of where we can finish, we are playing for every single point because we are determined to finish as high up the league table as possible to bring pride back to our performances and to give the fans something to cheer about.

“It might get to the stage in the season where on paper, there is not much to play for but there is always something to play for. We know we are in a part of the league where we don’t want to be in so we need to get points on the board and climb up that table.”

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Everton and Leicester City kicks-off at 5.30pm on Saturday evening.
