Chelsea will be hoping to close the gap on Barclays FA Women’s Super League leaders Arsenal to just two points when they travel to Walton Hall Park to face Everton on Wednesday.

The Blues have collected maximum points from their last two games against West Ham United and Aston Villa and Emma Hayes’ side will be hoping to build on that momentum against Everton.

Ahead of the match, FAWSL Full-Time have taken a look at the statistics surrounding the clash. Here are four facts which relate to Everton’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Chelsea.

Chelsea’s defensive record against Everton is excellent

Chelsea have not conceded a goal against Everton in a league fixture since the pair met in the old FA Women’s Super League 1 in 2014. The Blues have kept seven top flight consecutive clean sheets against Everton in a run which has seen them win six and draw one.

Could England be the key to Chelsea’s potential success on Merseyside?

Chelsea forward Beth England has netted in three of her last four Barclays FA Women’s Super League appearances against Everton. England has scored four goals in four league outings against The Blue Girls. The attacker is due a goal on the road though with all of England’s goals this season having come at Kingsmeadow.

Everton have a poor record against the current top three

Since the curtailed 2019/2020 season, Everton have taken just one point from nine games against teams currently occupying the top three positions in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. Their only point came in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Walton Hall Park in the first half of this season. The Merseyside club have suffered three defeats to Chelsea in this sequence.

Chelsea to go goal crazy again?

Chelsea have scored three goals or more in each of their last four Barclays FA Women’s Super League contests with Everton. Keeping things tight early on could be the challenge for the home side with Hayes’ Blues having netted within the opening half-hour of each of those four games.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Everton and Chelsea at Walton Hall Park kicks-off at 7pm on Wednesday evening.
