Manchester City are into the Vitality Women’s FA Cup semi-finals after recording a comfortable 4-0 victory over Everton at The Academy Stadium this afternoon.

Lauren Hemp bagged a brace, Caroline Weir netted a trademark long range goal and Ellen White was also on target as The Cityzens cruised into the last four.

Manchester City took the game to Everton from the off and they went close after just two minutes when Hemp’s header flashed wide. Lucy Bronze then saw an effort deflected onto the post before Hemp struck another shot narrowly wide.

Gareth Taylor’s side continued to push bodies forward and only a good save from Sandy MacIver denied Weir the opening goal before White and Jess Park directed efforts straight at the Everton keeper.

Manchester City were to go into the break a goal to the good. A cross came in from the right and was flicked on by White, the ball then landed at the feet of Hemp who fired home from close range.

The Cityzens doubled their lead soon after the restart. Everton had struggled defending balls at the near post all game and they were punished with Hemp flicking home from a well-delivered corner kick.

Things got even worse for Everton soon after the hour when Weir struck an effort from 25 yards which flew beyond MacIver and into the back of the net.

White then slid home the final goal of the game in second half injury time following a Laura Coombs cross as Manchester City marched on into the last four.

Manchester City join Arsenal in the semi-final draw which takes place live on the BBC News channel tomorrow evening.
