Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall says that while the club are in a great position going into the business end of the season, they must back it up with silverware.

The Gunners resume their UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign this evening when they face VfL Wolfsburg in their quarter-final first leg tie at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are still going strong in three competitions, however, head coach Eidevall says that this only counts for anything if his side back it up with silverware.

“It’s great to have this position in all of the three different competitions but you also have to understand and recognise that when you’re at the top at Arsenal, that’s not enough,” Eidevall said when speaking in the pre-match press conference.

“We are in these positions because we want to win trophies and that’s what we need to push for. That’s what separates the bigger clubs from the smaller clubs, the ambition and not being happy to have reached a certain point in a competition. You need to be ambitious enough to challenge yourself and give everything you’ve got to take opportunities.

“We are happy with the opportunities that we have but nothing has been achieved yet, now it is up to us to do it.”

Arsenal will have the benefit of playing on a world class pitch at the Emirates Stadium this evening, something that Eidevall is quite pleased with.

He said “I like playing at the Emirates, I feel that it is the right way forward for us and it is the way that we can grow the game. I am very happy to be going to the Emirates and I feel like it is going to be a great occasion for us playing there then going to Wolfsburg and playing in another big stadium.”

Arsenal’s UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final first leg fixture against VfL Wolfsburg kicks-off at 8pm.
