Aston Villa will be looking to end a seven-match losing streak on home soil in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League when they take on Reading at The Banks’s Stadium on Saturday.

Carla Ward’s side have not picked up a single point on their own pitch since defeating Leicester City 2-1 at The Banks’s Stadium on the opening day of the season in September.

Aston Villa boss Ward has confirmed that her side are in relatively good shape ahead of their latest match. On loan Arsenal defender Anna Patten is ill and will not be in the squad and there are concerns that her season could be over. Ruesha Littlejohn will be assessed while Meaghan Sargeant will be available for selection.

Reading manager Kelly Chambers continues to be without the services of forward Brooke Chaplen who is recovering from surgery on a tumour in her leg. The Royals have recently been without Tia Primmer, Natasha Dowie and Amalie Eikeland through COVID-19 but the trio could get the green light to return to the squad for the trip to Aston Villa.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Aston Villa and Reading is scheduled to kick-off at 12.30pm on Saturday afternoon. Fans are able to purchase tickets on the gate, however, it should be noted that The Banks’s Stadium is a cashless venue.
