Everton forward Anna Anvegård will miss international duty with Sweden next month as a result of her ongoing recovery from concussion.

The 24-year-old last featured for her club in their 3-2 victory over Leicester City at Walton Hall Park a couple of weeks ago. Anvegård has recently taken a knock to the head and Everton are carefully managing her recovery with the player having previously suffered a similar injury.

Sweden head coach Peter Gerhardsson has today named his 26-player squad for next month’s FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 qualifiers against Georgia and the Republic of Ireland but Everton forward Anvegård is a notable absentee.

Anvegård’s Everton teammates Nathalie Björn and Hanna Bennison have been selected in the squad while Chelsea trio Zećira Mušović, Magda Eriksson and Jonna Andersson have also been included. Emma Kullberg (Brighton & Hove Albion), Filippa Angeldahl (Manchester City) and Stina Blackstenius (Arsenal) are also members of Gerhardsson’s squad.

Sweden travel to Gori to take on Georgia on Thursday 7 April before welcoming the Republic of Ireland to Gothenburg on Tuesday 12 April. The Swedes have won all five of their FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 qualifying matches to date and look certain to qualify for the tournament finals.
