Reading forward Emma Harries will be sidelined for a significant period with a Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) injury according to reports on The Royals’ official website.
The 20-year-old sustained the injury whilst away on international duty with England Under-23s. A PCL injury can heal within 10 days or up to nine months, Reading have not confirmed a definitive timescale, however, it is understood that Harries will be out for an ‘extended period’.
Harries first burst on the scene at senior level last season. The player made 16 appearances for Reading in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, scoring her only league goal in the 3-2 defeat at Bristol City. Harries has stepped up further this season, featuring in every single league game. The forward has netted three goals, all of which have come in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
The youngster is one of the most highly-rated talents to come through Reading’s youth ranks in recent seasons and the club will be keen to see Harries recover well and grow even further next season. The player’s absence is a blow with Reading keenly pursuing a top half of the table finish in this season’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
The Royals are next in action on Sunday when West Ham United are the visitors to the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
