Brighton & Hove Albion have this morning announced a new ‘Pathway towards top four’ strategy which spans over the next two years.
The club have always maintained their desire to break into the top four of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and they have increased their focus towards this goal by today unveiling a new club strategy.
The strategy focuses on six pillars, those being player pathway, recruitment, performance and coaching, medical, wellbeing and marketing and communications. These pillars will form the cornerstone of the strategy which the Club will develop over the next two years to build an elite culture and get closer to the top-four vision becoming a reality.
Some of the key aims in the first year of the strategy include recruitment of players capable of pushing the club into the top four and retaining their position at that level, strengthening the quality in the WU21s and Girls’ Academy teams, careful focus on medical support and player wellbeing and targeting a specific audience in a bid to boost attendances.
Speaking following the announcement, Chief Executive and Deputy Chairman Paul Barber said “The strategy document sets out our objectives and overall vision and we’re looking forward to the opportunities it presents in the next two years. Having a team in the top four of the Women’s Super League is an important part of the Club’s overall vision. We have achieved a lot in the last few years with promotion to the WSL and the development of our new £8m training complex at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre, and we’re looking forward to the next chapter in the team’s professionalisation.”
The strategy has been developed on the back of consulting 67 internal stakeholders and 22 external stakeholders including
The Football Association and strategic partners, analysing 74 data sources including performance and marketing statistics and reviewing eight benchmarks including average Barclays FA Women’s Super League budgets and retention targets.
